Blog#3: Father's Day

Hello everyone! I'm Nozomi.

June 17th is Father's Day! What will you do for your father?
My father likes alcoholic drinks, so I have given alcohol from Nagasaki, his hometown, every year. However, I'm thinking I will give other things this year because alcohol is bad for health.

Now, do you know a symbolic flower of Father's Day? There is a symbolic flower on Father's Day as a carnation is the symbolic flower of Mother's Day.
It is a rose, especially it is said that you should give a red rose to your father if he is alive and a white rose if he is dead. The former represents passion and love, and the latter represents respect and purity. People say the reason roses are given on Father's Day is because an American lady who was an advocate of Father's Day placed white roses before her father's grave on  Father's Day.

Would you like to give roses with presents to your father on this Father's Day?

  1. Hi, this is Asami. Wow, it is amazing story of father's day! But it is already over so I couldn't give a rose for my father's day. I'm always confusing about the gift of father's day, because I thought that there is no rule for gift of father's day(like in mother's day, rule is to give a carnation). Now I could know the rule, so I will follow your advice next year!
